There isn’t enough verified information to name 12 current anime streaming apps for both Android and iOS. The strongest confirmed anime-focused choices here are Crunchyroll and HIDIVE. Other services carry some anime, but the available titles depend on your country and the specific show. Use the guide below to compare legitimate options without mistaking a broad video app—or a discontinued service—for a dependable anime catalog.
Which anime streaming apps are confirmed options?
Crunchyroll: the dedicated anime starting point
Crunchyroll is an anime-focused service with mobile apps, simulcast access, subtitle and dub options, and offline viewing. Available languages and features vary by title, membership tier, and region; Crunchyroll says subscription pricing varies by region and selected tier. Check the Crunchyroll service and its App Store listing for details applicable to your market. The App Store listing advertises “Over 2,000 titles,” a vendor claim that is not a dated, independently verified catalog count.

HIDIVE: a second anime-focused service
HIDIVE describes its offering around curated anime, simulcasts, dubs, classics, and less widely known titles. Its site lists support for Android phones and tablets as well as iPhone and iPad. Explore the HIDIVE service and confirm current app availability and plan terms for your location. Its official page showed inconsistent starting-price figures in different sections, so a specific current price is not established here.
Which broader streaming apps may have anime?
VIZ lists Netflix, Hulu, Pluto TV, Tubi, Peacock, YouTube, and Prime Video among platforms that may carry some VIZ anime. These are general video services, not interchangeable anime catalogs. VIZ cautions that a series’ availability varies by platform, country, and dubbed or subtitled version, and may change. Its list is a set of places to check—not confirmation that every service currently has every title or offers an anime app in both mobile stores. See VIZ’s anime viewing guide.

Availability can also depend on the exact version you want. A service may carry a series but not the dub, subtitle language, or season you’re looking for. Search each service’s catalog in your country before subscribing.
What about Funimation?
Funimation is not a current standalone streaming-app recommendation: Crunchyroll Help says the Funimation app and website ended service on April 2, 2024. Do not count the discontinued service as one of today’s options. See Crunchyroll Help’s end-of-service notice.

How to choose an app for the anime you want
- Check the title first. Search the show and season in your country, then confirm the dubbed or subtitled version and language you need. Catalog rights vary by territory and can change.
- Check simulcast coverage. If you want new episodes as they release, verify that the service carries that season and the release timing for your region.
- Confirm downloads and membership requirements. Crunchyroll offers offline viewing, but features can depend on membership. Check the service’s current plan details before paying; the cited information does not establish a comparable download policy for every candidate.
- Compare the complete cost and limits. Check current local pricing, ads, device limits, and which tier includes the features you need. A general streaming subscription may include anime alongside other programming, while a dedicated service focuses on anime.
- Verify your device. Before subscribing, find the official app listing for your country in Google Play or Apple’s App Store and check device and operating-system requirements. The available information does not verify both store listings and minimum OS versions for every candidate.
Why this is not a verified list of 12 apps
The services identified above do not substantiate twelve current choices verified for both Android and iOS. VIZ also names Funimation, VUDU, HBO Max, and Roku, but that does not establish their current service names, mobile-app availability on both platforms, or anime catalogs. Counting every brand, storefront, channel, or video platform as an equivalent anime app would give readers a misleading list. A reliable shortlist should be limited to apps whose current availability, device support, and relevant catalog have been checked in the reader’s region.
