Find recordings on a current Genie or Gemini
Press Menu or Home, then open My Library. This is the current destination for browsing recordings, with items organized into categories such as Recorded TV and Recorded Sports. Labels and layout can vary by receiver and software version. DIRECTV menu guidance
Manage scheduled recordings and DVR settings
For upcoming programs, series priorities, and other DVR controls, use the remote’s LIST button and open Recording Manager. From there, select the screen that matches what you need:
- Upcoming Recordings: Review programs scheduled to record.
- Series Manager: Manage series recording priorities.
- Recording History: Check past recording activity.
- Other controls: Depending on the receiver, options may include Purchase History, Manual Recording Setup, Typical Recording Preferences, and Playlist Share Settings.
DIRECTV’s Recording Manager help describes these controls. On current receivers, “Manage Recordings” may not appear as a single menu label; My Library is for browsing the playlist, while LIST > Recording Manager leads to scheduled-recording controls.

Older HD DVRs: look for “Manage Recordings”
Some older DIRECTV HD DVR menus use the path Menu > Recordings, which opens Playlist and Manage Recordings. If those labels do not match your receiver, use My Library for recordings or Recording Manager for scheduling controls on newer interfaces. The legacy HD DVR guide documents the older menu.
DIRECTV streaming: open My Library or use LIST
On DIRECTV streaming, recordings are generally available through My Library in the service, app, or device. A supported remote may also provide a LIST route. The exact path and available DVR functions depend on the platform and subscription. DIRECTV cloud DVR help and DIRECTV app help describe applicable options.

For satellite customers who want to watch DVR recordings in the app, DIRECTV says the receiver must be internet-connected and from a supported model family: HR44, HR54, HS17, or Gemini. Broadcaster restrictions may also affect availability.

Start by checking the playlist in LIST or My Library, then use the relevant manager screen to narrow down what happened:

- If the program has not aired, check Upcoming Recordings.
- If it should have recorded already, check Recording History.
- Review recording preferences and available DVR storage.
- Consider whether another household member deleted the program.
- Check receiver connections, signal or broadcast problems, and whether guide data was complete.
