It offers search and correspondent browsing, but it is not the government’s original archive. Treat it as a discovery tool: check an important message against its linked source document and surrounding release context.
What Jmail is—and what it is not
Jmail presents released Epstein emails in a simulated Gmail interface. The site says, “These are real emails released by Congress”; that is Jmail’s description of its material, not an independent confirmation that its archive is complete. The familiar inbox design is a browsing layer, not an official government email account or the original release.
When reviewed on October 8, 2026, Jmail displayed 1–100 of 7,497 items. That is a dated count of the site’s listing, not a verified count of all official Epstein-related records. The listing can change, and it does not establish the archive’s coverage or cutoff.
How to search and browse Jmail
The site provides a mail-search field and a way to browse people, alongside a Gmail-like mailbox presentation. WIRED’s November 21, 2025 report described Inbox, Starred and Sent views, a sidebar organized around correspondents, and community starring that surfaces emails other users flag. Jmail co-creator Riley Walz described the idea to WIRED this way: “We cloned Gmail, except you’re logged in as Epstein and can see his emails.”

Use search or correspondent browsing to locate a record, then open the individual item and look for its source link. Fast Company reported on November 26, 2025 that the project used Google’s Gemini AI for optical character recognition (OCR) on individual emails and included links to government originals. That reporting does not establish that every item has a working source link, so check the particular record rather than assuming one is available.
How to verify a message before relying on it
- Open the item in Jmail. Note the displayed date, correspondents and any identifying details before interpreting the message.
- Follow the source link, if present. Fast Company reported that Jmail included links to government originals, but a link’s presence and availability should be checked for each item.
- Compare the text with the original scan. OCR can make scanned records searchable, but recognized text may not preserve every word or mark accurately. When exact wording matters, read the source image.
- Keep the document identifier and context. Use the original release document and surrounding material to understand what the message does—and does not—show.
A name or email address appearing in a record does not, by itself, prove wrongdoing. Avoid presenting an isolated message as evidence of a broader allegation without context.

What is known about Jmail’s archive coverage
Coverage has changed over time, but the available reporting does not establish a current, release-by-release completeness statement or a verified cutoff date. Fast Company reported in November 2025 that the House Oversight Committee had made public more than 20,000 pages of estate documents in the release it described. The Standard reported in February 2026 that Jmail had been updated with a large subsequent Department of Justice document release. Those dated reports show that updates were reported; they do not establish which releases Jmail includes today or what it excludes.
The Standard also reported that the emails it covered ranged from April 2009 to July 2019. That is the range reported in that February 2026 article, not a guarantee about every item currently listed on Jmail. Do not assume Jmail contains all released files unless the site’s coverage can be checked against the official release batches.
How Jmail compares with original records
Jmail’s main advantage is navigation: a familiar mailbox layout, search and correspondent browsing can make a large set of records easier to explore. The original government documents serve a different purpose: they are the source to consult when checking wording, identifiers and context. For each record you plan to cite, check whether Jmail exposes the release batch, document ID, date and a usable link to the original; the reviewed reporting does not settle Jmail’s current coverage cutoff.
