No—Hulu is not going away. Disney is bringing Hulu more visibly into Disney+ while keeping Hulu subscriptions and the separate Hulu service. At the same time, ESPN launched a cable-free subscription service in 2025, and Disney has been expanding how sports—including NFL and WWE programming—are distributed across its services. Those changes connect Disney’s streaming strategy, but they do not mean every service, app or sports right has merged into one product.
What changed—and what “the end of Hulu” gets wrong
The biggest change for Hulu viewers is integration, not cancellation. In a May 19, 2026 Help Center update, Hulu said Hulu and Hulu Premium subscriptions would continue, with further integration into Disney+ planned by the end of 2026. The same update said Hulu + Live TV was not yet available to stream inside the Disney+ app. That distinction matters: a more unified Disney+ experience does not by itself mean Hulu subscriptions or the Hulu app have disappeared.
Disney began making Hulu its general-entertainment brand on Disney+ globally on October 8, 2025, replacing Star in international markets. Disney described a phased addition of Hulu across the Disney+ app and a unified app experience planned for 2026. A planned rollout is not confirmation that every subscriber, feature or market has already moved to the same interface.
Hulu + Live TV also remained a separate part of the picture after Disney’s Fubo transaction. Disney said the live-TV service would remain in the Hulu app and could be offered in a bundle with Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN Unlimited. It should not be confused with Hulu content appearing within Disney+.

Where to watch each kind of programming
ESPN without cable
ESPN launched its branded direct-to-consumer service on August 21, 2025, after announcing it on August 6. The launch described two plans, ESPN Select and ESPN Unlimited. Disney said Unlimited included ESPN’s linear networks and digital services, as well as live events, replays, studio programming, originals and app features. The launch announcement put the plan’s event offering at 47,000 live events annually; that is a launch-era figure, not a verified current tally or guarantee of today’s plan contents.
Disney’s launch prices were $11.99 per month for Select and $29.99 per month for Unlimited. It also advertised an introductory bundle of Disney+, Hulu and ESPN Unlimited for $29.99 per month for the first year. These are historical launch terms, not verified October 2026 prices. Check ESPN’s current plan and bundle terms before subscribing, since price, included programming and availability can change.

“Direct-to-consumer” means a viewer can subscribe through ESPN rather than relying on a traditional pay-TV subscription for that service. It does not mean every ESPN event is necessarily included in every plan, or that U.S. rights and availability apply in other countries. Check the current plan details for the event you want.
WWE Premium Live Events
ESPN’s U.S. deal for WWE Premium Live Events began earlier than the original announcement’s timetable. Disney first said the exclusive U.S. domestic ESPN-platform window would start in 2026. On August 20, 2025, it announced a revised debut date: September 20, 2025, with Wrestlepalooza. The announced rights concern WWE Premium Live Events in the United States; they should not be read as a worldwide distribution deal or as a statement that all WWE programming moved to ESPN.

NFL programming and rights
Disney and the NFL announced expanded arrangements on August 6, 2025. They included extended ESPN Draft rights, NFL-related content and interactive features for ESPN’s upcoming direct-to-consumer service, and selected out-of-market preseason games for the 2025 and 2026 seasons. Disney also said Disney+ and Hulu would stream ESPN and ABC Draft presentations beginning with the 2026 NFL Draft.
Disney said its transaction for NFL media assets closed on January 31, 2026. It included NFL Network and linear rights to NFL RedZone. In February 2026, Disney said it expected to add NFL Network to ESPN Unlimited before the next football season. That was an expectation, not confirmation that the channel has since become available in the service. Check ESPN’s current channel lineup if NFL Network access is the reason you are considering a subscription.

Super Bowl LXI on Disney+
On October 7, 2026, Disney announced that U.S. Disney+ subscribers would be able to stream Super Bowl LXI on February 14, 2027. The announced options are ESPN and ABC’s traditional English-language presentation and ESPN Deportes’ Spanish-language presentation. Disney also named more than 55 international markets for the ESPN presentation. That is an announced distribution plan for this game; the specific markets and event arrangements should be checked closer to kickoff.

- The app: Check whether the program is available through ESPN, Disney+, Hulu or a pay-TV provider. A title appearing on one Disney service does not establish that it is included in another.
- Your country: Sports rights vary by market. The WWE arrangement described here is for the U.S.; the Super Bowl announcement names specific international markets.
- The current price and bundle: Use current plan details rather than relying on ESPN’s 2025 launch prices or introductory offer.
- Availability versus plans: Treat an announced future feature, such as the expected NFL Network addition, differently from a feature the service confirms is available now.
Disney’s stated aim is to give sports fans “tremendous choice, convenience, and quality,” in the company’s Q3 FY25 executive commentary of August 6, 2025. In practical terms, the changes give viewers more routes to Disney-owned sports and entertainment—but the route still depends on the event, subscription, app and market.
