How Kirk and Julie Cousins met and married
The Washington Post reported in December 2013 that Kirk Cousins proposed to Julie Hampton that November. The couple had met through a mutual family friend and had been together for about a year and a half, according to the report. Cousins’s official biography and the NFL’s 2023 Minnesota Vikings media guide say they married in 2014; the guide specifies that the wedding took place in the offseason.
Do Kirk and Julie Cousins have children?
They have two sons, Cooper and Turner, named in Cousins’s official biography. The NFL’s 2023 media guide places Cooper’s birth in fall 2017 and Turner’s in spring 2019. Those are historical birth periods, not current ages. When Cousins joined Minnesota, the Vikings reported in March 2018 that Julie attended his introductory news conference with their six-month-old son Cooper.
What is publicly known about Julie’s interests and work?
Dog fostering
In a 2016 interview published by the Washington Commanders, Kirk said Julie had fostered dogs while in college, before the two met, and encouraged him to get involved. He recalled, “It was really my wife. She had done it in college, long before we met.” He estimated that they had probably fostered about eight dogs by the time of that interview; that was his approximate count in 2016, not a current total.

The Julie and Kirk Cousins Foundation
The NFL’s 2023 media guide says the couple launched the Julie and Kirk Cousins Foundation in October 2018. It describes the foundation’s stated aim as inspiring generosity and making famous the generous heart of God. A 2026 Sports Illustrated On SI profile reports that Julie helps run the foundation, but the sources available here do not establish a more specific current title for her.

Her exact birth date, current occupation, and current residence are not established by the sources cited above. Claims repeated online that she graduated from the University of Georgia or worked as an elementary school teacher are not sufficiently supported by authoritative evidence here, so they should not be treated as confirmed biographical facts.
An Associated Press report from March 2024 said Julie grew up in Alpharetta, Georgia, in the context of Kirk agreeing to join the Atlanta Falcons. That report is a dated detail about her background, not evidence of the couple’s present residence or Kirk’s current team status.
