August 2025 brought a mix of returning series, new shows and films across Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, Apple TV+ and HBO Max. Here are 17 notable releases from the month’s schedule, organized by premiere date—not a complete catalog or a ranking. Dates are historical; they do not confirm that a title is currently available in your region.
August 1: Three different kinds of premieres
- Chief of War (Apple TV+): A new series.
- Eyes of Wakanda (Disney+): A new series.
- My Oxford Year (Netflix): A film.
These titles were among the month’s opening-day releases. The schedule does not make them directly comparable beyond their date and platform.

How to use this August schedule
The dates and service labels here describe the 2025 release schedule, not current catalog availability. Streaming libraries can vary by country and change over time, and the cited month guides do not verify present-day availability, regional status or subscription requirements. Check the relevant service’s listing in your region before planning a watch.
This is a curated selection of notable premieres across streaming, broadcast and cable coverage, rather than a complete inventory of everything released that month.
