He said he had spent two years uploading prerecorded videos to YouTube and TikTok so his public activity would seem current while he focused on his health privately. The report describing the reveal does not independently verify the recording dates or establish that he lost exactly 250 pounds.
What happened in the reveal?
In the September 6, 2024 video titled “Two Steps Ahead,” Perry appeared wearing a panda head, delivered a monologue, and then removed the mask to reveal his changed appearance. He called it “the greatest social experiment of my entire life.” That phrase was his description of the reveal, not the name of a formal study.
Gizmodo reported that viewers had not seen him online for months and had last seen him at a reported 411 pounds. That figure is what the report says viewers had previously seen; it is not presented there as an independently verified measurement. Matthew Gault’s September 9, 2024 report for Gizmodo recounts the reveal and Perry’s explanation.
How did Nikocado Avocado keep his uploads appearing current?
In an interview with NBC, as quoted by Gizmodo, Perry said: “I have been strategically posting pre-recorded videos for 2 years, on both YouTube and TikTok.” He also said: “I edited the videos so that they would appear recent, allowing me to focus on healing my body behind the scenes.”

This is Perry’s account of his posting strategy. The cited report does not independently confirm when the videos were recorded or provide a full upload-by-upload timeline. In practical terms, his explanation was that he had prepared content in advance and edited it to look recent, creating a gap between his public uploads and his private life.
Is the 250-pound weight loss verified?
The reveal report describes Perry as much thinner and mentions the previously reported 411-pound figure, but it does not independently establish a total loss of exactly 250 pounds. The number in the headline should therefore be understood as a claim associated with the story, not a medically verified result or a measurement documented by the report.

The account also does not identify a diet, exercise routine, medical treatment, or weight-loss product behind the change. It does not support attributing his appearance to any particular method, or treating his experience as a health recommendation.
What did Perry mean by calling it a “social experiment”?
Perry framed the reveal as a way to challenge how viewers consume online stories and said, “Two steps ahead. I am always two steps ahead. This has been the greatest social experiment of my entire life.” He also described the panda mask’s symbolism this way: “The world of social media is not as black-and-white as it appears.”

Those statements convey Perry’s own interpretation of the stunt. The available account does not establish that the reveal was a formal experiment or provide evidence for a broader conclusion about audiences. It does show how the video used secrecy, a familiar public persona, and a sudden visual change to make the timing of online content part of the story.

Gizmodo also reported that Perry posted on a second channel, Nikocado Avocado 2, where he appeared eating noodles with his parrot. That detail adds context about his online presence; it does not establish anything about his health, the amount of weight he lost, or how he achieved the change.
