Project Seed is a reported Game Freak online-game prototype, not an announced Pokémon MMO. Leaks have described a world connecting multiple regions, but the lists have changed—from Hoenn and Sinnoh to four or five regions—and no official source has confirmed the project, its map, or a release date.
Is the Pokémon MMO confirmed?
No. The reporting describes leaked material and posts by leakers; it does not cite an announcement from Game Freak, Nintendo, or The Pokémon Company. A September 2026 report from Ali213 likewise says the companies had not confirmed the project. The MMO label and Game Freak connection should therefore be understood as reported claims, not established facts.

VICE attributes this description to a summary in leaked files: “Seed is a prototyping project for a next-generation online game playable by multiple people. Set in a region that connects Hoenn and Sinnoh.” That is wording attributed to an alleged document, not a statement from an identified company representative.
Which regions might Project Seed include?
The reported map has shifted, so “four-region” is a useful headline description of one version of the rumor—not a settled specification.

#1 Best Overall
- Shape the world and build a cozy new life with Pokémon as a Ditto transformed to look like a human.
- Use other Pokémon’s moves, like Bulbasaur’s Leafage, to revitalize and navigate the world around you.
- Meet and befriend more Pokémon as you help nature flourish.
- Gather materials to create items and furniture, till the fields to grow delicious crops, build homes for the Pokémon you meet, and more—there’s so much to do!
- Experience a world with varied weather, real-time days and nights, and other surprises.
- Hoenn and Sinnoh: VICE’s account of the alleged internal summary describes a region connecting these two areas.
- Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh: An earlier GamePro report recounts Centro LEAKS first describing a possible Hoenn–Sinnoh multiplayer prototype, then claiming the project included these four Japanese regions.
- Four to five regions, potentially including Kitakami: A later GamePro report lists Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Kitakami among the regions named in evolving leak summaries. Kitakami appears in later information, but the report does not establish a final five-region map.
There is an additional reason not to treat translated details as exact specifications: Omelete says the purported source material was in Japanese and cautions that translation can lose context or nuance.
When could the game come out?
There is no confirmed release date. VICE summarizes leak-based claims of active pre-production and a planned 2029 date, while noting that the timing could be pushed later. That is an unverified target reported from the leak—not a release announcement or a dependable prediction.

VICE also reports that leaker Riddler Khu said, based on a friend’s account, that the projects named in the leak, including Seed, were still in development as of April 2026. This is a secondhand claim and does not independently establish the project’s status now.
What does the Gold and Silver comparison tell us?
Pokémon Gold and Silver offer a limited historical comparison: GamePro notes that Kanto became accessible after players completed the Johto Elite Four. That demonstrates an earlier Pokémon game linking two regions within one adventure. It does not confirm Project Seed or show that a rumored online game would use the same progression, structure, or design.

What is actually known about Project Seed?
The available reports do not settle whether Seed is still active, which regions it would include, or whether the reported schedule ever represented an approved release plan. Until an official announcement supplies those details, the clearest description is a rumor about a possible multiplayer prototype—not a confirmed four-region MMO.
