For a historical May 2025 watchlist, BGR highlighted 15 free, ad-supported movies on Pluto TV, including Alan Partridge, Safety Not Guaranteed and Thunderheart. The lineup is not a guide to what is available today: Pluto TV says its catalog can change, so check the service before planning a watch.
Three BGR picks with a clear starting point
BGR’s April 28, 2025, list presented these as recommendations, not a ranked list or a claim that every film suits every viewer. Its descriptions offer a quick way to choose among three very different stories.
Alan Partridge
Steve Coogan plays the fictional broadcaster caught in a corporate takeover at his employer. After fellow DJ Pat Farrell is fired and takes office staff hostage, police turn to Partridge as a negotiator. BGR notes that the film was titled Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa internationally. Read BGR’s May 2025 picks.
Safety Not Guaranteed
Colin Trevorrow’s indie film follows an intern, played by Aubrey Plaza, investigating a classified ad placed by a man (Mark Duplass) seeking a companion for time travel. BGR describes the story as involving a fictional author of a real classified ad.

All 15 movies in BGR’s May 2025 list
Beyond its three featured films, BGR named these 12 titles. The five-film Mission: Impossible run makes this list a useful pick for viewers who want to follow a franchise rather than choose a single standalone film.

The list is BGR’s selection, not a complete catalog or a suitability guide. BGR author Jacob Siegal described the service as offering movies free with commercials in 2025: “Just like Tubi, it offers dozens of blockbuster movies to stream for free every month, as long as you can tolerate a few commercials while you watch.”
How the list fits into Pluto TV’s broader May lineup
PopCulture reported that Pluto TV stocked 200 movies in its May 2025 lineup. Its broader roundup included Gladiator, Zero Dark Thirty, A Few Good Men, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, titles from the Hellraiser franchise, and three Rugrats movies. That reported 200 is PopCulture’s lineup count, not an independently verified total for Pluto TV’s catalog. See PopCulture’s May 2025 lineup report.
