“Plastic Surgery or Bust!” is a People en Español celebrity gallery published January 31, 2008. It collected photographs and claims about 16 public figures, but it did not establish that everyone shown had plastic surgery: the page mixed reported admissions, surgeons’ opinions about appearance, and claims it explicitly described as unconfirmed or rumor.
What the gallery covered
The gallery’s title and opening question—“Were these celebs born beautiful, or did they go under the knife?”—framed the feature as entertainment. It directed readers to the March edition of PEOPLE EN ESPAÑOL and paired its entries with photographs dated to earlier years.

The 16 people featured were Salma Hayek, Ninel Conde, Bárbara Bermudo, Paulina Rubio, Ricky Martin, Kate del Castillo, Jackie Guerrido, Myrka Dellanos, Dayanara Torres, Lucía Méndez, Charytín Goyco, María Conchita Alonso, Angelina Jolie, Michael Jackson, Jenni Rivera, and Ashlee Simpson.
What the claims do—and do not—show
The page does not treat every entry as equally certain. Some entries report admissions; others relay visual assessments attributed to surgeons Anthony Youn and John Díaz. The claims about Ricky Martin and Ashlee Simpson are explicitly described as unconfirmed. Those categories should not be collapsed into a blanket claim that all 16 people had procedures.

Even when a surgeon’s opinion appears in the gallery, it is an attributed assessment based on photographs—not independent confirmation of a person’s medical history. A difference in appearance between photographs cannot, by itself, establish that someone underwent surgery.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to read it today
The gallery is a record of what People en Español published in 2008, not a current, independently verified account of the celebrities’ medical histories. Its question about being “born beautiful” or going “under the knife” is magazine framing, not a medically meaningful way to evaluate a person.
Rank #2
It also is not a medical reference: it provides no basis for advice about cosmetic procedures, their safety, or whether a procedure is right for any reader. The original feature is available at People en Español’s “Plastic Surgery or Bust!” gallery.
