Chloe Gelmi and Socceroos goalkeeper Maty Ryan revealed they are expecting a boy with a soccer-themed video filmed on a football pitch in France. Ryan kicked a mini soccer ball that burst with blue powder, prompting the couple to embrace and kiss.
How did Chloe Gelmi and Maty Ryan reveal the baby’s sex?
In a social-media video described by PerthNow, Ryan kicked a small soccer ball on the pitch at Stade Bollaert-Delelis in France. The ball burst, releasing blue powder and revealing that the couple are expecting a boy.
The post also featured ultrasound images, small white sneakers and a blue soccer jersey bearing Ryan’s surname. Other images showed Gelmi and Ryan at the stadium and in a car selfie.
When did the reveal happen?
PerthNow published its report on 6 May 2025 and said the gender reveal came two weeks after the couple announced the pregnancy. The report does not give the date the couple posted the reveal video, so an exact social-media post date cannot be established from it.

PerthNow described congratulations from model Liv Cripps, the Socceroos’ Instagram account, footballers Cameron Burgess and Pantelis Hatzidiakos, and former rugby league player Krisnan Inu. Those named reactions show that friends and sports figures responded; they do not establish the scale of the wider public response.
Who is Chloe Gelmi?
PerthNow described Gelmi as a Perth model who began modelling at 14. The report also said she graduated from Curtin University in 2019 with Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Commerce degrees and was admitted as a lawyer of the Supreme Court later that year.
