In December 2014, Perth-raised actress Melissa George returned to Western Australia for Christmas with her partner at the time, French entrepreneur Jean-David Blanc, and their 10-month-old son, Raphaël. PerthNow reported that the family was visiting during a three-week break from George’s filming schedule in New York.
What happened in Perth in December 2014?
PerthNow published its report on 21 December 2014, describing a family holiday that was already underway. George told the reporter that being back in Perth made her feel at home: “It’s really exciting we are staying home.” She also said, “It’s like I’m going to be OK, I’m home.” Those remarks were quoted by PerthNow in the context of that visit.
The story’s “young family” description refers to Blanc and Raphaël at that time. It is not a current description of George’s family or circumstances.
Which places were on the family’s possible itinerary?
PerthNow described several destinations and outings as possibilities, rather than confirming that each took place:

- John Street Cafe in Cottesloe: The report mentioned a possible stop for coffee and a sandwich.
- Karrinyup: It was raised as a tentative outing.
- FutureFit Studios in Clarkson: George said she planned to spend time there with family. PerthNow identified the studio as owned by her brother Brett and sister-in-law Carrie; this was biographical detail, not an endorsement.

What was George working on at the time?
The PerthNow story placed the visit during George’s three-week break from filming in New York. Its career context included her work on the American adaptation of The Slap. Both the production reference and the break belong to the period covered by the December 2014 report.

How later reports put the visit in context
Later coverage reflects different points in George’s life and should not be folded into the 2014 account. A PerthNow profile published in 2016 reported that she had two children and quoted her saying, “(Australia) is where I’m most complete. If I’m to be honest, everything just feels right.” A 2019 TV WEEK / Now to Love report described her living in Paris and discussing career decisions in relation to her children.
In 2023, Now to Love reported a later Western Australia visit and reproduced a social-media caption: “Winter in Perth… no place like home.” That later visit does not add to or confirm the 2014 itinerary. A PerthNow report dated 6 July 2026 said George had welcomed a fourth child and was living in France. Those dated reports clarify why the 2014 headline should be read as a snapshot, not a current update; they do not establish her present travel plans, residence, or family arrangements.
