His connection to The Last of Us is behind the camera: reporting says he worked on both productions, including horse-riding instruction and stunt sequences for the HBO series—not a crossover between their stories.
What does the Percy Jackson Season 2 tribute say?
At the end of “Demon Pigeons Attack,” the second episode of Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2, a memorial card reads: “IN LOVING MEMORY OF A TRUE PIONEER – DANNY VIRTUE.” Tech Advisor reports that the card appears with a silhouette of two horses pulling a chariot, a visual nod to the episode’s chariot action. Tech Advisor’s account of the tribute documents the card and its placement.
The episode is part of a season based on The Sea of Monsters, the second book in Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson series. Disney’s official synopsis sets the season’s quest in motion after Camp Half-Blood’s protective border is breached: Percy sets out to find Grover and the Golden Fleece. The chariot imagery belongs to that fictional adventure; the memorial honors a real member of the production crew. Disney’s Season 2 announcement gives the adaptation and story context.
Who was Danny Virtue?
Danny Virtue was a Canadian stunt professional whose work spanned film and television. Stunts Canada’s memorial describes him as a stuntman, producer, director and philanthropist, and records his dates as December 26, 1949–September 4, 2025. It credits him with co-creating Neon Rider and coordinating stunts on productions including War for the Planet of the Apes and Jurassic World: Dominion. Stunts Canada’s memorial also notes his Virtue Studio Ranch in Mission, British Columbia, and the Virtue Foundation’s “A Day at the Ranch” program for children and families.

The scale of his career is described differently by two organizations, so the figures should not be treated as competing counts of the same thing. The Television Academy says Virtue performed and organized stunts for more than 130 television series and films; the Danny Virtue Foundation’s own biography reports more than 1,000 film and television credits. The sources do not define those categories as equivalent. The Television Academy biography and the Foundation biography provide their respective descriptions.
Why is the episode dedicated to him?
Virtue’s connection to the episode was professional as well as personal to the production: his stunt and horse expertise related directly to its chariot action. TV Insider quotes executive producer Dan Shotz describing Virtue as “essentially the chariot race architect.” That attribution makes the tribute’s horse-and-chariot image especially apt. TV Insider’s report contains Shotz’s description.

The season’s action sits within a story that takes a darker turn from the first season. In a December 2025 D23 interview, Walker Scobell, who plays Percy, said, “Season 2 gets a lot darker, and we deal with more complex ideas.” That broader tone is context for the season, rather than an explanation of the memorial itself. D23’s cast interview includes Scobell’s comment.
How does Danny Virtue connect Percy Jackson to The Last of Us?
The link is Virtue’s reported work across both productions. Tech Advisor reproduces a Pedro Pascal post thanking Virtue for teaching him to ride and helping him through The Last of Us Season 2 stunt sequences. That points to a shared crew member and practical stunt work, not a shared plot, characters, or fictional universe.

The connection should be described as reported rather than as a claim independently verified here against The Last of Us’s production credits. The cross-show account and Pascal’s quoted thanks appear in Tech Advisor’s explanation.

Disney announced December 10, 2025, as the Season 2 premiere date, with two episodes debuting on Disney+ and Hulu and subsequent episodes scheduled weekly. That is release history, not a guarantee of current availability: catalogs vary by country and can change. Disney’s release announcement names those platforms and the original rollout plan.
