The Oriental Mindoro provincial government expressed condolences to his family and thanked him for the memories he left “hindi lamang sa industriya ng pag-aartista, kundi maging sa pagbibigay-serbisyo para sa mga Mindoreño” — not only in the acting industry, but also through service to the people of Mindoro. The government identified him as a former provincial board member.
Patrick dela Rosa’s acting career and notable films
Born Perfecto dela Rosa in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro, on July 13, 1964, he entered show business after a Close-Up commercial brought him to the attention of Regal Films producer Lily Monteverde. PEP’s account of a 2020 interview says Monteverde sought him out in 1983 to sign him as a Regal Baby. He was given the stage name Patrick because he was discovered on St. Patrick’s Day.
His reported film debut was Shame (1983), a Regal Films release co-starring Claudia Zobel. Other representative credits from his 1980s and later career include:
- Uhaw sa Pag-ibig
- Sinner or Saint
- Harot
- Bedtime Story
- Climax
- White Slavery
- Kiri
- Kristo
- Suspek
- Ping Lacson: Super Cop
- Ex-Con
This is a selection, not a complete filmography. PEP reports that most of his films in the 1990s were action movies.
His move to California and public service
PEP says dela Rosa left show business in 2007 to settle in the United States. Philstar reported that he and his family moved to California, where he became a businessman. He later served as a member of the Oriental Mindoro provincial board; the available accounts do not provide a detailed timeline of his political service.
