Spoiler-light review. “Agent Billy Pace,” the fourth episode of Paradise Season 1, shifts the focus toward Billy as the citizens celebrate the annual carnival and he and Xavier continue their investigation. The official setup gives the episode a useful contrast between public festivity and ongoing inquiry; critic Brittany Frederick’s available review excerpt calls it a compact, gripping character arc anchored by Jon Beavers.

Why the episode’s focus on Billy matters
In the CBR review excerpt indexed by IMDb, Brittany Frederick describes this installment as more gripping than the first three and praises it as a character-focused turn. Her assessment is centered on Beavers’s performance: “Anchored by a fantastic performance by Jon Beavers in the title role, this is a full character arc playing out over less than an hour.” The quote is available in IMDb’s indexed listing of the review; the underlying CBR review page was not accessible for additional detail. That distinction helps explain the episode’s appeal without requiring a scene-by-scene account: the shift is from the early installments’ world-building toward Billy’s perspective. Billy is not simply an investigator alongside Xavier; he is also positioned within the system the story is examining. Hulu’s series guide identifies him as a Secret Service agent on President Cal Bradford’s protection detail and describes his skepticism about Paradise’s system as surfacing over the season. That is series-level context, not confirmation of any particular Episode 4 scene. Hulu’s series guide

Carnival celebration against an active investigation
The official synopsis’s pairing of carnival and investigation gives the episode a structural tension: a communal celebration unfolds while Xavier and Billy press further into their inquiry. That contrast supports the episode’s Billy-centered emphasis, but the public synopsis does not describe specific clues, revelations, or the ending. This review therefore does not claim a particular outcome or explain a twist.
For viewers who found the opening episodes’ setup more prominent than their character work, Frederick’s comparison suggests a change in emphasis rather than a departure from the series’ central mystery. The available evidence supports that broad shift, not a detailed verdict on individual scenes.

Who should watch it
“Agent Billy Pace” is most likely to interest viewers who want Paradise to spend more time with a key member of the protection detail while continuing the investigation. Beavers’s performance is the clearest specific point of praise in the available critical excerpt. Those looking for a full recap or an explanation of the ending will need a source with episode-specific plot details; the official synopsis and surfaced review passage do not establish them.
