Hints for Connections on July 1, 2024
Connections asks you to sort 16 words into four groups of four, with each group sharing a theme. The New York Times says the color scale runs from yellow, the easiest category, to purple, the trickiest. The game is designed with overlapping associations, so a word may seem to fit more than one group before you spot the intended connection. Learn about Connections in the NYT Help Center.
- Yellow: What a leader or tour guide might do.
- Green: A certain type of shady operation.
- Blue: Think of imagery related to a particular form of money.
- Purple: These are the opening words of certain locations.

The July 1 puzzle is identified by Parade’s guide as Connections #386. Another answer archive gives the same date and groups but labels it #409, so the game number is disputed; the date and answer sets match.

The daily Connections puzzle is released at midnight in the player’s timezone and can be played on the NYT Games website or in the Games and News apps. The NYT Help Center says an account is not required to play the daily game, though signing in lets you retain progress across devices. The archive, which goes back to June 12, 2023, is limited to All Access and Games subscribers.
