The 2026 Grammys red carpet had no official fashion winner or loser. By the criteria used here—silhouette, construction, distinctiveness, and how clearly a look reads in available photos—Lady Gaga’s feathered Matières Fécales gown is a standout, while the most divisive look is Chappell Roan’s custom Mugler. “Worst” is a subjective styling judgment, not a verdict on the wearer; the event’s documented looks also include Bad Bunny in Schiaparelli, Sabrina Carpenter in Valentino, and Olivia Dean in Chanel.
What these Grammys red carpet photos show
The 68th Annual Grammy Awards took place on February 1, 2026. The Recording Academy says the eligible recording period for the awards ran from August 31, 2024, through August 30, 2025. The carpet’s fashion, however, is not an awards category: any “best” or “worst” selection is an editorial point of view, not an official ranking.
There is no single complete or definitive gallery among the cited coverage. Vogue’s gallery labels 67 looks and credits Getty Images; the Los Angeles Times gallery is a newsroom-curated “best looks” selection; and the Associated Press photo report offers its own fashion descriptions. Their different scopes and editorial choices mean they should be read as complementary views, not a consensus list.
Standout looks: distinctiveness with a clear visual idea
Lady Gaga in Matières Fécales
The Los Angeles Times singled out Lady Gaga in a custom feathered Matières Fécales dress with a long train. As a best-look choice, it scores on visual impact and silhouette: the feathered surface and extended train create a strong shape that remains legible in a red-carpet photograph. That is an editorial assessment of the look, separate from the garment attribution.

Bad Bunny in Schiaparelli
The Recording Academy describes Bad Bunny’s outfit as a black custom haute couture menswear tuxedo by Schiaparelli, with a corset-style back and a measuring-tape lapel detail. The Academy reported that it was the house’s first custom haute couture menswear look to appear on a red carpet. The contrast between familiar tuxedo form and those specific construction details makes the look distinctive without relying on color alone.
Olivia Dean in Chanel
AP describes Olivia Dean’s look as two-tone white-and-black with feathers, and Vogue also identifies her in Chanel. The high-contrast palette gives the feathered styling a graphic quality in photos, while the texture keeps it from reading as a simple black-and-white outfit.
Sabrina Carpenter in Valentino
AP identifies Sabrina Carpenter in a custom white Valentino gown with jeweled floral decoration and a mermaid silhouette. The fitted outline and ornamental surface make the gown a clearly composed formal look; the details provide visual interest without obscuring its overall shape.
The most divisive look: Chappell Roan in Mugler
The Recording Academy describes Chappell Roan’s custom Mugler ensemble as an exposed-bodice look involving nipple rings, pastie prosthetics, and temporary tattoos. Those details make it one of the carpet’s most provocative and immediately recognizable images. The Academy also noted online reaction, but that does not establish a measured public consensus.

On the criteria used here, Roan’s look is a plausible “worst” pick only if the reader values coherence and photographic readability over shock and spectacle: the exposed construction and tattoo details compete for attention, making the overall composition less unified than the strongest silhouettes in this selection. That is a critique of visual impact, not of Roan’s body or personal worth. A reader who prioritizes audacity and alignment with an intentionally provocative image could reasonably rank it among the night’s best instead.
Other useful photos from the carpet
Addison Rae in Alaïa
AP describes Addison Rae in a custom Alaïa dress with a plunging neckline and a skirt longer in front than in back; Vogue also identifies the designer as Alaïa. The difference in skirt length gives the outfit a distinctive profile that is especially apparent in a full-length image.
Sombr in Valentino
AP describes Sombr in a shimmering silver Valentino suit with a lace undershirt. The combination pairs a reflective tailored look with a contrasting, delicate layer underneath.
Ledisi and Jasmine Simpkins in matching dresses
AP reports that singer Ledisi and television host Jasmine Simpkins wore the same off-the-shoulder pink-peach dress with sparkly tinsel. It is an unexpected matching moment, not evidence of a best- or worst-dressed verdict.
