On 12 February 2024, People reported that Prince William was coping “remarkably well” amid Catherine’s recovery from abdominal surgery and King Charles’s cancer announcement. The assessment came from an unnamed friend quoted by the magazine—not from William or a palace statement—and it does not establish how he privately felt.
What did the report say about Prince William?
People attributed the description “coping remarkably well” to a friend of William. The friend was quoted as saying: “He is coping remarkably well considering his wife had surgery and he only found out his father’s news recently.” The source was not named, so the comment is an anonymous characterization rather than a directly verifiable account of William’s state of mind. People, 12 February 2024
No named official statement in the cited coverage directly assessed how William was coping. The report offers a glimpse of how an unnamed friend described him, not a clinical evaluation or confirmation from the Prince himself.
What happened, and when?
