Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was filmed dancing to Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” at her Sydney Eras Tour concert on Friday, 23 February 2024. His partner, Jodie Haydon, was with him. The Guardian described the video as a fellow concertgoer’s recording and reported that Albanese declared the tickets as a gift from Universal Music Group on his parliamentary register of interests.
What happened at the concert?
Albanese attended Taylor Swift’s Sydney Eras Tour show at Accor Stadium with Jodie Haydon. The Guardian described the pair dancing to “Shake It Off” in a video recorded by another concertgoer. PerthNow reported that the clip appeared on TikTok on Saturday, 24 February, the day after the show. The reporting establishes that the clip circulated; it does not independently authenticate the original TikTok upload.
Before the concert, Albanese had confirmed his plans in an ABC Radio Brisbane interview on 22 February. Asked about tickets, he said, “I am going to see Tay Tay tomorrow night.” In that interview he also said, “And if you want to get people on the dance floor, just play Shake it Off, which is, I think, a really good message to women as well.”
Where and when was the show?
The concert took place at Accor Stadium in Sydney on Friday, 23 February 2024, during the Sydney run scheduled for 23–26 February. PerthNow reported that 81,000 fans attended Albanese’s show; that is the outlet’s reported crowd figure, not an independently verified official stadium count.
