In February 2023, Post Malone said he and his entourage were refused entry to the rooftop bar at QT Perth because of his tattoos. QT later apologized, saying its third-party security had failed to use appropriate discretion and that the hotel accepted responsibility.
What happened at QT Perth?
The incident took place on a Saturday night in February 2023 at the rooftop bar of QT Perth, a hotel on Murray Street in central Perth, Western Australia. The West Australian reported Malone’s account on 13 February. He told the paper: “They turned me away for my tattoos… I’ve never really experienced anything like that.” The West Australian’s report attributed the rejection to his tattoos.
A 7NEWS report published the following day said Malone and his entourage were refused entry. It also reported that they went afterward to 18 Knots, a rooftop bar inside the DoubleTree by Hilton, where they were allowed in. That later visit is reported by 7NEWS, rather than independently confirmed here. 7NEWS’s account
What did the rooftop bar’s dress code say?
Contemporaneous coverage described signage at QT Perth’s rooftop bar as prohibiting “face, neck, and offensive tattoos.” The policy allowed enforcement at management’s discretion. The reporting concerns this bar’s stated dress code; it does not establish a chain-wide QT rule or show that the policy was formally repealed. PerthNow’s report

What did QT say in its apology?
QT Hotels’ statement, reproduced by PerthNow and 7NEWS, said: “At QT, we aim to welcome everyone and celebrate the uniqueness of each individual. QT has recognised this for many years. However, on Saturday night our third-party security did not exercise the appropriate discretion and we take full responsibility for this. We sincerely apologise to the individuals affected.” PerthNow reproduced the statement; 7NEWS also reported it.
The wording apologizes to the “individuals affected,” not just Malone. QT’s stated explanation was that third-party security did not exercise appropriate discretion; the statement does not say the tattoo restriction itself was formally withdrawn.

No. This incident was at QT Perth’s rooftop bar. PerthNow later recalled it in an 18 March 2023 article about a separate footwear-related complaint at QT Melbourne. The Melbourne complaint and the Perth rejection are distinct events. PerthNow’s article about the Melbourne complaint
