Post Malone said in 2023 that he had cut soda and started eating better, and that becoming a father helped motivate the changes. He also denied drug-use rumors and said he felt healthier. In interviews that year, he gave approximate weights of about 240 and 185 pounds; media accounts rounded his loss differently, so the figures should not be treated as a precise medical record. The reporting cited here does not establish his current weight or health status as of October 8, 2026.
What Post Malone said when people asked about his weight
On April 28, 2023, Malone addressed concern about his changing appearance and stage performances in an Instagram post. As quoted by The Independent, he wrote that he was “not doing drugs” and said he was “having a lot of fun performing, and have never felt healthier.” Those are Malone’s own statements, not a medical assessment.
He connected his habits to fatherhood: “i guess dad life kicked in and i decided to kick soda, and start eating better so i can be around for a long time for this little angel.” The statement gives his explanation for the changes; it does not establish a diagnosis or independently verify his health.
The weight figures he gave in 2023
In a June 2023 interview with Joe Rogan, Malone described his weight at two points in approximate terms: “I was like 240 and now I’m like 185.” The Los Angeles Times reported that he linked his slimmer figure partly to cutting back on soda. He also said he still occasionally drank soda and energy drinks.

| Source and date | Figure or description | What it represents |
|---|---|---|
| Post Malone, Joe Rogan interview, June 2023, as reported by the Los Angeles Times on September 1, 2023 | About 240 pounds previously; about 185 pounds at the time | His own approximate comparison, not a verified clinical record. |
| Los Angeles Times, 2023 | 55-pound loss | A rounded media description alongside the approximate 240-to-185-pound comparison. |
| Men’s Health, October 2023 | 55-pound loss | A rounded description in coverage of his account of changing tour meals. |
| Esquire, October 2023 | 60-pound loss | A rounded profile description attributed to cutting soda. |
| Post Malone, Howard Stern interview, reported by Men’s Health in October 2023 | 20 pounds | His retrospective estimate of weight lost after changing what he ate on tour. |
The totals do not form a consistent, measured series: the quoted weights are approximate, while the 55- and 60-pound figures are rounded descriptions. They should be attributed to their respective sources rather than combined into a more exact claim.
What he said changed in his routine
Soda and eating habits
In his April post, Malone said he had decided to “kick soda” and eat better. In the interview reported by the Los Angeles Times, he said he had cut back, not necessarily stopped entirely; he acknowledged still having soda and energy drinks occasionally.

Late-night meals on tour
In an interview with Howard Stern, Malone described eating less fried food and pizza after shows and choosing grilled chicken, carrots, and white rice instead. He said hot sauce helped make those meals appealing and estimated, “I lost 20 pounds doing that.” Men’s Health reported the account in October 2023. It is his anecdotal description of his own experience, not evidence that hot sauce causes weight loss or that the same routine will work for someone else.
How fatherhood figured into his explanation
Malone also discussed fatherhood in a July 2023 interview with Zane Lowe. As quoted by the Los Angeles Times, he said: “Having a baby really put a lot into perspective, and it’s really slowed me down a lot, party-wise, going out and being crazy. But it’s the most beautiful thing. I just want to take some time now.” He described fatherhood as a shift in perspective and routine, consistent with the motivation he had mentioned in April.

What the public statements do—and do not—establish
- Drug-use rumors: Malone denied using drugs in his April 2023 post. That denial is his statement; the reporting does not independently establish a medical or substance-use diagnosis.
- Weight: His approximate interview figures and the varying rounded media totals document what he and publications said in 2023, not a current measurement.
- Health: Saying he felt healthier does not amount to a clinical evaluation. The cited reporting does not establish his current weight or medical status as of October 8, 2026.
Esquire’s October 2023 profile described a 60-pound loss and attributed it to cutting soda, while other coverage used 55 pounds. These differences reinforce why the figures are best presented as attributed estimates, rather than a single exact total.
