When did PowerPlay Malaga open?
PowerPlay announced the opening for Friday, 4 October 2024. In a report published on 26 September 2024, PerthNow described it as the company’s third Western Australian centre. That report said the indoor, two-level track would feature hairpin bends, sweeping corners, an extended bridge and a tunnel; PowerPlay’s current venue page highlights ramps and bridges.
The 2024 report said the venue could host private functions, corporate bookings, team-building days, parties and other events, with capacity for up to 100 people. It also reported company figures of more than 140,000 racers and more than six million laps across PowerPlay’s three WA centres since the business first opened at Joondalup in 2020; those figures were reported by PerthNow, not independently audited here.

Who can race, and what do you need to wear?
PowerPlay’s current race requirements say racers must be at least 10 years old, at least 140 cm tall and under 120 kg. The age bands for the listed sessions are separate from the venue’s minimum eligibility requirements.
- Wear enclosed shoes and a balaclava. You may bring your own balaclava or buy one at the venue.
- Loose clothing is not allowed.
- Check the current requirements before booking, as rules may change.
What the opening report said
PerthNow quoted PowerPlay CEO Glenn Macneall describing the venue as open to both experienced motorsport fans and first-time karters. The report also quoted him saying that many staff were involved in go-karting and rally motorsports, and that the business aimed to share its interest in racing in a safe, fun and competitive environment. These comments were reported in 2024, not made in a new interview.
