A leak headline teases a “villainous favorite” for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, but the available excerpt does not identify that character or establish that the rumor is true. Nintendo’s official synopsis confirms a space adventure involving Bowser Jr. and a mission to save Rosalina; it does not confirm an additional villain.
What the leak actually says
IMDb’s syndicated listing of a Collider story dated February 25, 2026, describes an alleged plot addition to Bowser Jr.’s mission to rescue Bowser. The excerpt available from that listing does not name the “villainous favorite” teased in the headline. The IMDb article page was not accessible, so the identity and details of the supposed reveal cannot be verified from the available material. IMDb’s syndicated listing
That distinction matters: a headline can suggest a familiar antagonist without establishing who it is or whether the character appears in the film. No specific villain should be treated as confirmed on the basis of this excerpt.
What Nintendo has confirmed about the movie
Nintendo’s official US movie page describes a galactic adventure sparked by Princess Peach’s birthday party. Mario and Luigi head into space to stop Bowser Jr.’s ambitions and save Rosalina. Nintendo lists Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Jack Black as Bowser, Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr., Donald Glover as Yoshi, and Brie Larson as Rosalina. How to read the rumor
- Confirmed: Nintendo describes Mario and Luigi traveling into space, Bowser Jr.’s ambitions, and a mission to save Rosalina.
- Not established: The accessible leak excerpt does not identify the teased villain or confirm that the character is in the movie.
- Best evidence: Until Nintendo or another reliable source names the character, treat the “villainous favorite” as an unidentified rumor rather than a casting or story announcement.
Galaxy games and collectibles are separate tie-ins
Nintendo’s 2025 announcement said Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 would launch together in a physical Nintendo Switch edition, with individual digital releases also announced. It also announced an illustrated hardcover edition of Rosalina’s Storybook and Mario & Luma and Rosalina & Lumas amiibo figures. Those products connect to the franchise, but they do not confirm the movie leak. Nintendo’s announcement about the Galaxy games and related products
