Ozzy Osbourne’s family joined thousands of fans in Birmingham on July 30, 2025, for a public procession in his memory. The hearse passed through central Birmingham and stopped at the Black Sabbath Bridge and bench, where family members viewed tributes. Thousands attended, according to ABC News and other coverage. Reports did not establish a precise crowd total, so a more exact figure should not be inferred from the descriptions.
Which family members were there, and what was reported about their reaction?
Sky News named Sharon, Jack, Kelly and Aimee Osbourne among the family members who viewed the tributes at the Black Sabbath Bridge. Reports described Sharon as tearful and visibly moved. AP said she wiped away tears; ABC described her as visibly shaken beside Jack and Kelly. Those accounts support describing Sharon’s emotion, but not saying that every family member broke down in tears.

Was the funeral open to the public?
No. The Birmingham procession was public, while the funeral that followed was private. The distinction is reported by AP and ABC News. The public farewell let fans pay their respects along the route; it should not be described as an open funeral service.
Birmingham Lord Mayor Zafar Iqbal called Osbourne “more than a music legend — he was a son of Birmingham,” and described the procession as “a fitting, dignified tribute ahead of a private family funeral,” according to ABC News.

A page from The Black Mania claims Kelly sang “One Word” at St. Philip’s Cathedral, but the event accounts from AP and Sky News do not corroborate that performance or the page’s purported dialogue. The cathedral performance should therefore be treated as unverified, not as an established part of the farewell. The Black Mania page, AP and Sky News describe the procession and family tributes, not a confirmed cathedral performance.
