Those are media-reported figures, not a verified Netflix accounting total. The clearest older worldwide ranking put The Gray Man and Red Notice in a tie at $200 million apiece.
Netflix’s most expensive reported movie: The Electric State
Netflix’s 2025 science-fiction film The Electric State leads the available later budget reporting, but its cost is not settled at one exact figure. A March 2025 New York Times report said Netflix spent over $275 million to make the film. The New York Times report also said costs rose partly because of special effects and upfront bonuses for stars and directors. Separately, Hindustan Times reported a $320 million figure, attributing it to Deadline. Hindustan Times’ report does not reconcile that total with the lower estimate.

Because the reports may use different accounting scopes, neither number should be treated as an audited, definitive production ledger. Netflix identifies the film as an adaptation of Simon Stålenhag’s illustrated novel, the source material for the movie.
The older worldwide ranking of costly Netflix originals
For a consistent historical comparison, Statista’s table ranks worldwide Netflix original long features by budget for May 2022. It was published on May 12, 2023, so it is a dated snapshot—not a complete ranking of films released since then. The values below are nominal US dollars as listed by Statista. Why published budgets do not always match
Different reports can define cost differently
A reported budget may refer to production spending or a broader total, and the sources do not provide a common accounting definition for every film. That makes apparent precision misleading: a figure reported by one outlet is not automatically comparable to another outlet’s estimate.
The Irishman illustrates the uncertainty
Statista lists The Irishman at $160 million, while TheWrap reported $150 million in December 2023. TheWrap’s December 2023 comparison also gives The Gray Man and Red Notice budgets of $200 million each and 6 Underground $150 million. These are reported estimates, not figures to average into a supposedly exact total.

Rankings age as new films arrive
Netflix has not published a current official all-time movie-budget table in the sources available here. Statista’s ranking covers a May 2022 period, while later releases—including The Electric State—are covered by separate media reports. The list therefore establishes a historical comparison, not a complete leaderboard through 2026.

Large reported budgets identify expensive productions; they do not establish whether a film was profitable or successful for Netflix. The cited sources do not provide Netflix’s title-level accounting or a basis for calculating each film’s return. Likewise, a platform’s viewership figures alone would not reveal the internal economics of a title.
Rank #3
At the time of its July 2022 release, Netflix’s Tudum described The Gray Man as “Netflix’s biggest movie yet.” That description is dated to 2022; it is not a current all-time budget claim.
