Game Night is the 2018 comedy behind the recent “finding new fans on Netflix” headline. Its story starts with a regular evening of games among friends, then turns into a real crime mystery. Netflix availability varies by country, so the film may not appear in every viewer’s catalog.
What is Game Night about?
Max and Annie host a weekly game night with their friends. When a murder-mystery scenario becomes real, the group has to work out what is happening while the evening spirals beyond the rules of a game. The premise gives the comedy a crime-mystery setup rather than making it a conventional party comedy.
Who stars in the 2018 comedy?
Netflix lists Jason Bateman, Rachel McAdams, and Billy Magnussen among the starring cast. The title page also names Sharon Horgan, Jesse Plemons, Kyle Chandler, Kylie Bunbury, Lamorne Morris, Chelsea Peretti, and Danny Huston. The film was co-directed by John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, according to BGR.
Why did Game Night trend on Netflix?
In a November 5, 2025 article, BGR reported that Game Night had just become available on Netflix and ranked No. 9 among U.S. Netflix movies at that time. That is a dated chart snapshot, not a current ranking. It helps explain the “finding new fans” framing, but it should not be read as evidence of the film’s present-day position.

Where can you watch Game Night?
Check the Netflix catalog for your country.
