The Angry Miz Girl meme began with a real crowd shot on WWE Raw in November 2010. After The Miz cashed in his Money in the Bank contract to defeat WWE Champion Randy Orton, cameras showed a nine-year-old Orton fan named Cayley scowling and giving a double thumbs-down. WWE says The Miz called her “Angry Miz Girl” the following week.
What happened to make Cayley’s reaction memorable?
The moment followed The Miz’s Money in the Bank cash-in against Randy Orton, then WWE Champion. The Miz won the title, and the broadcast cut to the crowd, where Cayley’s unhappy reaction stood out: she wore an Orton shirt, scowled and held both thumbs down. WWE places the Raw event in Baltimore’s Royal Farms Arena and describes Cayley as nine years old at the time. WWE’s retrospective on famous fans recounts the scene.
It was not a staged meme shoot. The image came from the live broadcast’s coverage of the crowd after the title change. WWE says screen captures subsequently spread online, but its account does not identify who first posted one, where it first appeared, or the exact date the image began circulating more widely. WWE’s Slammy Awards retrospective also describes the screen captures spreading online.
How did she get the name “Angry Miz Girl”?
WWE says The Miz gave Cayley the “Angry Miz Girl” name the following week. The label tied her reaction to the wrestler who had just beaten her favorite, and the image became closely associated with his six-month WWE Championship reign.

What happened when Cayley won a Slammy?
In December 2010, Cayley won WWE Universe Fan Reaction of the Year at the Slammy Awards. WWE’s recap says The Miz and Alex Riley feigned admiration before The Miz took the award during the presentation. The moment turned the fan’s reaction into part of the same storyline that had made the crowd shot memorable.
How did Cayley’s family get in touch with WWE?
In a December 2010 interview transcript republished by WrestleZone, The Miz said Cayley’s father contacted WWE after Miz invited the family to get in touch. That is Miz’s account in an interview, rather than an independently verified production record. Read the republished interview transcript at WrestleZone.

What is known—and not known—about the meme’s spread?
WWE’s accounts establish the broadcast moment, the nickname and the later Slammy presentation. They do not establish the first internet post, the original platform or a precise timeline for the image’s wider circulation. It is accurate to say the crowd shot spread online after the broadcast; assigning a first uploader or a specific viral date would go beyond what these sources document.
