Kidman filed in Davidson County Circuit Court in Nashville, Tennessee, on September 30, 2025. The filing named her as the petitioner and cited “marital difficulties and irreconcilable differences,” according to the Associated Press’s report on the filing. Are Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban divorced?
Yes. An Associated Press report reproduced in the January 8, 2026 edition of the Arab Times says Judge Stephanie J. Williams dissolved the marriage after a hearing on January 6, 2026, finding the settlements sufficient. The report quotes the judge as saying “there exist such irreconcilable difference between the parties that would render continuation of the marriage impractical and impossible.” This account is attributed to AP; the primary court docket was not reviewed. What did the reported agreements provide?
Parenting plan
Filing-era coverage described a signed parenting plan for the couple’s two teenage daughters. ABC News Australia reported that it asked for Kidman to be the primary residential parent, with the children spending 306 days per year with her and 59 with Urban. Those are the allocation terms reported from the plan at the time; they do not establish anything about either parent’s private relationship with the children.

AP reported that the agreement provided for a roughly equal division of joint assets, while each party retained assets in their own name, including artistic copyrights and royalties.
What is known about the separation?

How long were Kidman and Urban married?
They were married for 19 years. AP reported that they met in 2005 at a Los Angeles event honoring Australians and married in Sydney the following year. In a separate, earlier context, Kidman told AP at the 2024 premiere of The Perfect Couple: “You’re heading for trouble if you consider yourselves the perfect couple,” and, “I’m not a believer in perfect.” Those remarks predated the divorce filing and were not an explanation for it.
