Nicola Coughlan and Jake Dunn were reported leaving a London bar arm-in-arm on October 23, 2024, but that date-night report did not confirm they were a couple. E! said neither had publicly commented on their relationship at the time. Coughlan acknowledged the relationship publicly in February 2025, according to ELLE’s later timeline.
What was reported about the October 2024 date night?
E! reported that Coughlan and Dunn left the Auld Shillelagh, an Irish bar in London, arm-in-arm on October 23, 2024. Its account, published the next day, said they appeared to be in conversation. E! described Coughlan wearing a black dress, black tights and an oversized burnt-orange sweater; Dunn was described in dark-green cargo pants, a red-and-white baseball shirt and a baseball cap. The report did not identify clothing brands or models. E!’s October 24 report presents these as observations of the outing, not as statements from either person.
The Evening Standard also reported the sighting, describing the pair as hand-in-hand in North London. Its October 25 article framed the outing as prompting romance rumors and said it had contacted their representatives for comment. The Standard’s report does not establish that either person confirmed a relationship that night.
Did the date-night report confirm their relationship?
No. E! explicitly said neither Coughlan nor Dunn had commented publicly on their relationship when it published its October 24 account. The Standard likewise treated the outing as a rumor and sought comment from representatives. Walking arm-in-arm or holding hands, as described in those reports, is not the same as a public confirmation.

When did Coughlan acknowledge the relationship publicly?
ELLE’s August 18, 2026 timeline says Coughlan publicly acknowledged her relationship with Dunn in an Instagram Story birthday tribute to him on February 12, 2025. ELLE dates their first joint red-carpet appearance to April 2025. Those later milestones add context, but they do not change what was or was not confirmed in October 2024. What has Coughlan said about the attention?
In a December 2025 interview with The Guardian, Coughlan reflected on early-date photographs being published, calling it “The violation is immense.” She also said, “People go, ‘Oh, there’s so-and-so from TV.’ They forget you’re a person.” These were comments in that later interview, not remarks about the October 2024 outing. The Guardian also reported that she described intense anxiety and fear of being followed while discussing public scrutiny. Read The Guardian’s interview.

The distinction matters: a reported public sighting can describe what a publication says it observed, but it cannot establish what the people involved have chosen to say about their relationship. Coughlan’s later comments also put the publication of early-date photographs in a personal context, rather than making private movements something to track.
