By November 2020, their wedding plans were on hold amid pandemic restrictions. In an interview with People CHICA, Jam said older relatives in both families were at risk and that there was no rush to choose a date, as reported by People en Español (People en Español).
In an interview reported by Primera Hora on February 15, 2021, Jam said they had separated about a month earlier: “Nos separamos hace un mes. Simplemente, no funcionó” (“We separated a month ago. It simply didn’t work”). He publicly confirmed the breakup on February 15–16, 2021, according to contemporaneous reports from Primera Hora and People en Español.

Why did the engagement end?
Jam’s explanations, as reported by People en Español and Primera Hora, included pandemic and quarantine pressures, cultural and language differences, and the demands of his work as an artist. People en Español quoted him on Flow Urbano saying, “The situation of the pandemic, of quarantine, affected the situation a bit, and the truth is it just didn’t work out.” He also cited “different culture, languages” and said he respected Moreau (People en Español).
Primera Hora reported Jam describing a “diferencia de cultura, diferencia de lenguaje” (“difference in culture, difference in language”). These were his stated reasons; the interviews do not establish those factors as independently proven causes or justify drawing broader conclusions about either person (Primera Hora).

What did Jam say about the breakup and the ring?
Jam said he and Moreau remained friends and parted on good terms. Asked whether he wanted the engagement ring back, he answered: “No, yo lo que doy no lo quiero de regreso. Lo que yo regalo, es un regalo, eso no se quita.” Telemundo’s English translation is: “No, what I give, I don’t want back. What I give as a gift is a gift; that doesn’t get taken back.” (Telemundo).
