For Monday, October 20, 2025, NYT Strands game #596 has the theme “It’s in the mail.” A gentle nudge: think about details associated with getting paid by check. Hints and the complete answer list follow, with spoilers clearly marked.

Hints for Strands #596

Need another nudge before seeing the answers? Forbes describes the theme as “Important details related to a way to get paid.” The six theme words are connected to that idea.

For a lighter clue, the first two letters of the seven answers, in Forbes’ listed order, are: NU, AD, AM, CH, SI, RO, ME.

Spangram clue

The spangram is nine letters long and touches the left edge of the grid on row four and the right edge on row seven. It names something that can gather the details suggested by the theme. Forbes writes it as two words; TechRadar presents it as one.

How Strands hints work

Strands uses a spangram—a word or short phrase that describes the theme and spans two opposite edges of the grid. According to the overview of the game’s mechanics on Wikipedia, finding three unrelated words can unlock a hint that highlights the letters of a theme word. The suggested words for unlocking hints on this puzzle are CHASE, MESS, BUNCH, MORE, SNACK and DUDE.
