Alden Parker’s father, Roman, is murdered in the two-part NCIS Season 23 premiere. Parker blames mob boss Carla Marino and pursues her so relentlessly that he puts his own future and the team’s at risk. The story continues in Part II, where his sister Harriet Parker—a Navy vice admiral—is drawn into an impossible choice.
What happens to Parker in the premiere?
“Prodigal Son (Part 1)” begins a personal revenge story: after Roman Parker is murdered, Alden goes to extreme lengths to hunt down Carla Marino, the mob boss he holds responsible. The official synopsis says that pursuit jeopardizes both Parker’s future and the team’s. It establishes the stakes without specifying what consequences Parker ultimately faces.

Gary Cole plays Special Agent Alden Parker. Paramount+’s Season 23 guide, published February 11, 2026, identifies Cole in the role.
How does Part II change the stakes?
“Prodigal Son (Part II)” continues Parker’s pursuit of vengeance and warns that it could have deadly consequences. It also introduces his sister, Harriet Parker, played by Nancy Travis, as a Navy vice admiral facing an impossible choice. The official description does not say what that choice is or how it is resolved, so those details should not be assumed from the synopsis alone.
