Tim Stokely’s next creator platform is Subs, launched in May 2025 with a pitch aimed at podcasters, athletes, musicians, influencers and adult creators—not just one niche. It packages subscriptions, video and direct interaction in one service, but its features overlap with established platforms, and WIRED reported that Subs declined to disclose its user count. The ambition is clear; its traction is not.
What is Tim Stokely’s new platform after OnlyFans?
Subs is a creator platform founded by Tim Stokely, who founded OnlyFans but was no longer affiliated with it while developing the new venture, according to WIRED’s profile. Subs announced its launch on May 8, 2025, describing the service as mobile-first and built for creators in a range of fields. Its stated pitch is to bring video hosting, paid subscriptions and one-to-one interaction together rather than target only adult creators. The launch announcement names podcasters, athletes, musicians, influencers and adult creators among its intended users.
That broad audience is positioning, not evidence that the platform has moved beyond adult content. WIRED reported that Subs permits adult content as well as safe-for-work material. The distinction is that the company says it wants creators across categories, while accommodating adult creators too.
Is Subs like OnlyFans?
There is a family resemblance: both center on creators earning from paying fans and communicating directly with them. But Subs’ stated ambition is a wider, all-in-one service, with content formats and discovery features meant to appeal beyond the subscription model associated with OnlyFans. The two platforms should not be treated as identical, and the available reporting does not establish that Subs has displaced or materially challenged OnlyFans.

Academic work helps explain why the OnlyFans model became closely connected to adult creator businesses. A 2023 ACM Web Conference study describes OnlyFans as a subscription service organized around creator–fan interaction and finds an interconnected ecosystem of social and shopping services around it. The researchers collected 438,665 profiles across 144 countries from third-party recommendation sites; that is their study dataset, not a live count or a representative census of all creators. In that dataset, 46% of profiles included at least one external link and 47% included a Twitter profile, evidence of the role cross-platform promotion played in the sampled ecosystem. The paper’s findings describe data collected for that study, not current platform-wide behavior. Read the ACM study.
What does Subs say it offers creators?
Subs’ May 2025 launch announcement listed a set of features intended to combine publishing, audience discovery and paid interaction. These are features the company said it was launching with; they should not be assumed to reflect the platform’s current availability or terms.

The company also promoted moderation, AI tools, and age and identity verification. Those are company claims in its launch announcement, not independent assessments of how well the systems work. Stokely framed the platform’s aim as “building real careers, not chasing trends,” as quoted by WIRED; that describes his vision, not a demonstrated outcome.
How does Subs compare with other creator platforms?
WIRED placed Subs in a crowded market, noting that its proposed mix overlaps with features associated with services such as YouTube, Instagram, Cameo, Patreon, Substack, X and adult creator platforms. In practical terms, a single service may bring several creator tools together, but bundling familiar features does not by itself show that creators or audiences will switch.

| Question | Subs’ stated approach | What the reporting establishes |
|---|---|---|
| How can creators earn? | Subscriptions, one-to-one calls and revenue sharing were listed in the May 2025 launch announcement. | Detailed current fees, payout terms and creator revenue shares are not established in the cited profile or launch materials. |
| Can fans discover creators in the service? | The company announced an Explore feed. | The launch materials describe the feature; they do not establish its current reach or effectiveness. |
| What content formats are included? | The launch announcement named long-form Shows, video hosting and one-to-one audio and video calls. | WIRED’s comparison emphasizes overlap with formats and interaction already offered elsewhere. |
| Who is the intended audience? | The company named creators from mainstream categories as well as adult creators. | WIRED reported that both adult and safe-for-work content are permitted. |
| How many users does it have? | No figure in the launch announcement establishes an audience size. | WIRED reported that Subs declined to share its current user count. |
The comparison is about the product pitch, not a verified feature-by-feature audit of competitors. Current terms and functionality can change, so creators should check each service’s own documentation before making a platform decision.
What is Subs Boost?
In July 2025, UKTN reported that Subs was developing a feature called Subs Boost. The concept was to let creators give subscribers unique links and reward them for subscriptions they generated. Stokely called it “a first on a creator platform,” but UKTN reported that he did not provide specific earnings for participants. The article described a feature under development at that time; it does not confirm its current availability or terms. UKTN’s July 30, 2025 report has the details.

Is Subs gaining traction?
The cited reporting does not provide a user count, creator count or other adoption measure that would establish Subs’ scale. WIRED said the company declined to share its current user number, leaving its ability to compete in a crowded creator market uncertain. Launch announcements and planned features show what the company wants to build; they do not show how many creators have joined, how many fans pay, or whether creators can earn reliably.
For a creator evaluating the service, the unresolved questions are practical: current payout terms, content rules, payment access, audience discovery, account portability and whether fans will follow. The cited sources do not settle those points. Subs is best understood as Stokely’s attempt to broaden a subscription-and-interaction model to more of the creator economy, not as proof that the wider influencer market has adopted it.
