Ritz’s caption said she was proud to be by Schilling’s side and wished her a Happy Pride.
What Taylor Schilling shared for Pride
Ritz posted a photo of herself embracing Schilling with the caption, “I couldn’t be more proud to be by your side @taylorschilling. Happy Pride!” Schilling reshared the Story, adding heart emojis, according to E! and Entertainment Tonight. The outlets reported the confirmation on June 29, 2020. The original Story was ephemeral, and the available coverage describes it rather than linking to a stable archive.
Who is Emily Ritz?
Contemporaneous coverage identified Ritz as a visual artist and musician. The relationship news concerned Schilling’s real life, not Piper Chapman’s fictional relationships in Orange Is the New Black, the series for which Schilling was best known at the time.
Did Taylor Schilling describe it as coming out?
Some 2020 headlines framed the post as Schilling “coming out,” but that was the outlets’ wording, not a label she used in the shared post. E! noted that Schilling had not publicly labeled her sexuality and quoted an earlier 2017 statement to Evening Standard Magazine: “There’s no part of me that can be put under a label. I really don’t fit into a box—that’s too reductive.”

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
In a 2022 interview with Ellie Harrison of The Independent, Schilling addressed that framing: “It’s very confusing to me when people are like, ‘When you came out…’ because since I was 14, everyone’s known who I am. I’ve always been exactly who I’ve been.” She also said, “I was dating men, women, all sorts of people at that time.” Her comments explain why a headline’s shorthand should not be mistaken for a label she chose.
What is known about their relationship now?
The reporting establishes a public confirmation in June 2020, not the couple’s current status. It does not establish whether Schilling and Ritz are still together, so the Pride-weekend post is best understood as a past news event. Entertainment Tonight also relayed a Just Jared report that they met through mutual friends and the relationship became more romantic in late 2019; that detail is secondhand and is not necessary to identify what Schilling confirmed.
