That timing does not establish why the marriage ended or show that the alleged incident caused the divorce. Later reporting said Meyden pleaded guilty to three counts of causing another person to ingest a controlled substance and was sentenced to 24 months in prison.
What happened at the Lake Oswego sleepover?
In August 2023, three 12-year-old girls stayed overnight at Meyden’s home for a sleepover with his daughter. KPTV and FOX 9 reported that accounts in court documents and police reports described Meyden making mango smoothies; the girls later felt impaired, and benzodiazepines were detected in their tests. Those details are reported accounts of the evidence, not a basis for adding claims beyond what the reporting states. KPTV’s June 2024 report and FOX 9’s account covered the case outcome.
KPTV reported that one girl stayed awake, became worried, and texted her mother to ask to be picked up. The message, published by KPTV, read: “Mom please pick me up and say I had a family emergency. I don’t feel safe. I might not respond but please come get me. Please. Please pick up. Please. Please!!”
When did Meyden and his wife divorce?
A PEOPLE article republished by Yahoo reported that Meyden and his wife divorced in October 2023, less than two months after the August sleepover. FOX 9 later gave the divorce date as October 17, 2023. These reports establish a timeline; neither explains the reason for the divorce or links it causally to the sleepover. Yahoo’s republication of the PEOPLE report and FOX 9’s report provide the dates.

How did the criminal case conclude?
In February 2024, KPTV reported that Meyden had been charged and pleaded not guilty at that point in the proceedings. That was an interim status, not the final outcome. In June 2024, KPTV reported that he was found guilty and sentenced to 24 months in prison. FOX 9 reported that he pleaded guilty to three counts of causing another person to ingest a controlled substance. KPTV’s February 2024 coverage documents the earlier plea; its June report and FOX 9’s June account report the later resolution.

KPTV reported that Meyden said during sentencing, “I was truly worried about them,” and described wanting to know that the girls were in bed. That is his reported explanation, not an independent finding about his motive. KPTV also quoted the mother of one of the girls telling him, “You played Russian roulette with my child’s life.”
