The crime drama in the headline is Prodigal Son. Netflix’s January 9, 2026 release guide listed both Seasons 1 and 2, describing a gifted criminal profiler whose NYPD work is complicated by his family ties to a serial killer. That date has passed, and the listing does not guarantee the show is available in every country today.
What is Prodigal Son about?
Prodigal Son follows a criminal profiler working with the NYPD. His job is only part of the story: his relationship with his family is strained, and his father is a serial killer. Netflix’s release guide summarizes the series around that collision of police work and family history.

Is Prodigal Son available on Netflix now?
Availability can depend on country and licensing rights. Netflix’s Help Center notes that licensing can be a reason an entire season is missing from a catalog; a January 2026 listing alone cannot confirm what subscribers can watch in a particular location now. Check Netflix in your own region for the current catalog.

“Underrated” and “easy-to-binge” are opinions in the headline, not conclusions established by the release listing. The available Netflix information confirms the premise and the two-season listing, but does not establish audience response, critical standing, episode count, or how quickly a viewer might finish it.
