THE ONE PIECE, WIT Studio’s new adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s manga, is scheduled to premiere globally on Netflix in February 2027. It starts again at the beginning of the East Blue saga—not as a new season of the existing Toei Animation series—and its first season is planned to cover about 50 manga chapters in seven episodes.
When does THE ONE PIECE come out?
Netflix lists THE ONE PIECE for a global premiere in February 2027. The official materials establish a month, not a specific day or release time. Netflix describes the release as global, though availability on the service can vary by territory. Netflix Media Center and Netflix Tudum list the project and its release window.

Is this a new season of the existing One Piece anime?
No. THE ONE PIECE is a new adaptation of the manga, beginning at Chapter 1 in the East Blue saga. It is separate from the long-running television adaptation produced by Toei Animation. The two projects have different production identities and schedules: WIT Studio is making the Netflix adaptation, while Toei’s existing series continues separately. Netflix Tudum describes the new project as separate from the TV series.
Toei announced that its ongoing series would move to a schedule of two cours and up to 26 new episodes a year from 2026, following a three-month hiatus at the start of that year. Toei also announced the existing series’ Elbaph Arc return for April 5, 2026; its announcement lists Crunchyroll in the territories where the arc would be available. Those plans concern the Toei series, not THE ONE PIECE. Toei Animation’s schedule announcement and Toei’s Elbaph Arc announcement.

What story will the first season cover?
Netflix says Season 1 will adapt approximately the first 50 manga chapters, starting with the East Blue saga and reaching Luffy’s encounter with Sanji at the Baratie. This is an early portion of the story, not an adaptation of the entire manga. For readers who want the source material alongside the adaptation, the natural starting point is One Piece manga Volume 1, which begins the story at Chapter 1.

How many episodes will it have, and how will they be released?
The first season is planned as seven episodes with an approximate combined runtime of 300 minutes, released all at once. Netflix has not specified equal episode lengths, so dividing the total into seven identical runtimes would be an estimate, not a confirmed episode duration. Netflix Media Center.

WIT Studio is the animation studio. Netflix lists Masashi Koizuka as director, Hideaki Abe as assistant director, and Taku Kishimoto for series composition. Netflix’s creative-team coverage says the production reconsidered the visual presentation, color, and set design. Director Koizuka described the team’s approach to interpreting the characters: “As we put together all our rough sketches, we tried to adapt his thought process to our own take on the ONE PIECE characters.” That describes a creative process; it does not establish a promised difference in pacing or prove that the adaptation will cover more story than the announced first-season scope.
