The series behind the headline is Killing Eve, the spy thriller starring Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer. Netflix announced that all four seasons—32 episodes in total—would begin streaming in the United States on April 15, 2024. That dated announcement does not confirm whether the show is on Netflix in your country today; check your regional Netflix catalog.
What is Killing Eve about?
Killing Eve follows Eve Polastri (Sandra Oh), an MI5 operative pursuing Villanelle (Jodie Comer), a skilled assassin. Their cat-and-mouse pursuit develops into an increasingly obsessive relationship. Fiona Shaw plays Carolyn Martens, head of MI6’s Russia Section. Netflix describes the series as running from 2018 to 2022.
Though sometimes described as a spy drama, the show is a thriller with a character-driven focus on the pursuit and fixation between its two leads. The phrase “one of the best” is a matter of opinion, not a verified all-time ranking.
Is Killing Eve on Netflix?
Netflix’s April 15, 2024 announcement said all four seasons and 32 episodes were then available to stream in the United States. Streaming catalogs vary by country and can change, so that announcement is not proof of present availability in another region—or in the US now. Check the title page in your local Netflix catalog for the current listing.

Where did the story come from?
The series is based on Luke Jennings’s Codename Villanelle novellas. Netflix says the four e-novellas were published between 2014 and 2016 and later compiled into a single novel, published in the United States in 2018. The television story eventually diverges from Jennings’s books, so the collection is source material, not a scene-by-scene account of all four seasons. Hachette UK’s listing for Killing Eve: Codename Villanelle identifies the book behind the TV series.

BAFTA’s archive records Killing Eve’s 2019 Drama Series win. In its January 2020 press release, BBC Studios described the show as BAFTA-winning and Golden Globe- and Emmy-nominated. Those are specific honors and nominations, rather than an all-time awards tally.

While accepting the BAFTA award, creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge credited Jennings: “So massive, massive thank you first and foremost to Luke Jennings, who wrote the novellas that these are based off, so none of this would ever have appeared and these characters would never have happened on TV if it wasn’t for him.” BAFTA’s acceptance-speech archive preserves her remarks.
