Xebec was not simply seeking a reputation as a powerful pirate. The official ONE PIECE.com character profile describes his ambition as becoming king of the world. That goal gives his story a larger political scale than a contest for territory or treasure.

2. He captained a crew that history largely forgot
Xebec led the Rocks Pirates, but the official profile says the crew’s existence and its defeat were not passed down in public history. That gap between the group’s importance and its absence from the public record is part of what makes the crew’s story unusual.
3. Whitebeard was once one of his crew
Edward Newgate—later known as Whitebeard—sailed with Xebec. The profile places him among the prominent members of the Rocks Pirates, before his later life as a captain in his own right.

The official profile attributes to Marine Sengoku the assessment that Xebec may have been Roger’s first and strongest enemy. This is Sengoku’s characterization, not an objective ranking supplied by the narrator or a measurable comparison of strength.
7. God Valley was where the Rocks Pirates were defeated
The official profile links the crew’s downfall to the God Valley Incident, placing it 38 years before the story’s present. It was not a minor episode in Xebec’s career: the incident is the event associated with the end of his crew.

8. God Valley involved a Celestial Dragon human hunt
The profile describes the incident as taking place amid a human hunt organized by Celestial Dragons. That context makes the conflict more than a simple clash between rival pirate crews.
9. Roger and Garp joined forces against the Rocks Pirates
The official account says Gol D. Roger and Marine Garp allied in opposition to the Rocks Pirates at God Valley. The unusual partnership helps explain the incident’s significance in the history of both piracy and the Marines.

10. Xebec’s story reaches readers through chapters far beyond his introduction
The God Valley story is revisited much later in the manga. VIZ’s official One Piece chapter catalog lists chapter 957 as well as chapters 1155 and 1156. VIZ dates chapters 1155 and 1156 to July 20 and August 3, 2025, respectively. Readers following this history should be aware that later chapters contain substantial spoilers.
