Is it really the franchise’s final chapter?
That claim is not established by the producer disclosures cited here. The Daily Galaxy’s June 13, 2025 article calls the third film a final chapter, but Ruyi Film’s later statements confirm a planned release window and the company’s producer role—not that the franchise ends with this installment. It is more accurate to describe The Wandering Earth 3 as the franchise’s third film, without presenting a series finale as confirmed.

How does the third film fit the franchise?
The series began with The Wandering Earth (2019), directed by Frant Gwo and based on a novella by Liu Cixin. The Wandering Earth 2 followed in 2023. The third film continues that franchise, but the cited material does not establish its plot, cast, or whether it will be divided into multiple parts.
