Gunko’s confrontation escalates the Elbaph incident from a fight into a crisis: she overpowers the Straw Hats who challenge her, captures Colon, and reveals that Elbaph’s children are meant to be taken to Mary Geoise. Her reported connection to the Knights of God and warning of a coming war widen the threat beyond the island.
What happens in One Piece Chapter 1146?
According to the chapter summary on One Piece Wiki, Jinbe and Nami connect Gunko to earlier attacks on guards and the disappearances of children. Gunko rejects being called human and describes herself as a god; the summary reports that she says the children are being taken to Mary Geoise. Brook identifies her as a Knight of God.
Nami, Zeus, Brook, Usopp, and Jinbe attempt to stop her, but Gunko defeats them and takes Colon hostage. The summary also reports that she regenerates after being injured. Her advantage is therefore not just a powerful attack in one encounter: the group’s effort to resist does not prevent the abduction.
Why is Colon’s capture a turning point?
Colon’s capture makes the danger immediate and personal, while the reported plan to take Elbaph’s children to Mary Geoise gives the confrontation a larger purpose. The Straw Hats are no longer dealing only with an enemy who can defeat them; the abduction is presented as part of a threat to children across the island.

The chapter summary also describes parallel events elsewhere on Elbaph: Ripley carries Lilith and Bonney to safety as Franky faces pursuing MMAs, while Rimoshifu Killingham defeats Ange and Kiba and takes over the island’s Den Den Mushi transmission system. That reported communications takeover suggests the danger is unfolding across the island, not only where Gunko confronts the Straw Hats.
Who is Gunko, and what does the chapter establish?
In the reported events of Chapter 1146, Brook identifies Gunko as a member of the Knights of God. Gunko’s rejection of humanity and self-description as a god are also reported by the secondary summary; they should be understood as that summary’s account, not as independently verified verbatim English dialogue.

Gunko also refers to a disastrous coming war and says Elbaph’s involvement could affect its outcome, according to the same summary. The chapter thus links the local abduction to a conflict with wider stakes. It does not, on the evidence available here, establish the full nature, timing, or participants of that war.
How Chapter 1146 broadens the threat
| Scale of danger | What the chapter summary reports | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Immediate | Gunko defeats the Straw Hats confronting her and captures Colon. | The confrontation ends with a hostage in the enemy’s hands. |
| Children of Elbaph | Gunko’s reported plan is to take the children to Mary Geoise. | The danger extends beyond the people fighting her. |
| Wider conflict | Brook identifies Gunko as a Knight of God; she refers to a coming war and Elbaph’s importance to its outcome. | The island’s crisis is connected to a conflict larger than this encounter. |
| Island-wide disruption | Killingham takes over Elbaph’s Den Den Mushi transmission system in a parallel event. | The reported takeover adds a communications threat alongside the physical confrontations. |
That combination gives “rampage” its force as a description of the chapter’s events: Gunko demonstrates overwhelming combat strength while the surrounding mission threatens children and may affect a broader war. This is an interpretation of the reported plot, not a claim about authorial intent.
