O plano de desenvolvimento de Kiribati descreve GMT+14 como o horário mais adiantado e relaciona essa posição à chegada antecipada do Ano Novo (Kiribati Development Plan 2024–2027). Em termos práticos, isso significa que o calendário local avançou para 2025 enquanto muitos outros lugares ainda estavam em 31 de dezembro de 2024.

Assim, a resposta sobre quem entrou primeiro no calendário não determina qual lugar viu primeiro a luz do dia.
