“We’ve had a bit of a journey having lumps removed from both of our chests,” Bartel said. She added that they were “really lucky they were both benign,” but that not knowing what was happening had been frightening.
Ring described the difficult decision to seek care: “It’s kind of that scary moment where you don’t really want to get checked but you do want to get checked.” She said her tumour was benign but fast-growing, and that she was glad she had it checked and removed. What the ghd awareness story establishes
The report connected the sisters’ Instagram video with a limited-edition pink hair straightener from ghd. It does not identify the model, establish whether it is currently available, or state that sales supported a charity or specify any donation amount. The product’s pink colour alone is not evidence that a purchase funds breast cancer services.

Do not wait for a screening appointment if you notice a change
Screening does not rule out the possibility of cancer developing between appointments. The government’s breast awareness guidance advises contacting a doctor as soon as possible about unusual changes. Signs it lists include a new lump or lumpiness; changes in breast size, shape or colour; nipple or skin changes; irritation; and persistent pain. A recent clear screen should not be treated as a reason to ignore a new or unusual change.
Population figures are not personal predictions
The Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing states that 1 in 7 Australian women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. It also reports five-year relative survival of 75% in 1985–1989 and 94% in 2011–2015. The page does not state a publication year for these figures.
