The theme clue is “Wake up and …” Forbes offers a second hint: “A pick-me-up to start your day with.” TechRadar’s hint for the spangram is “Joe’s choice?”
For an additional nudge, the first two letters of the six theme words and spangram are ES, MO, LA, CO, BL, CA, IC, as reported by Forbes.

How Strands works
Forbes describes Strands as a themed word-search game played on a six-by-eight grid. Connect adjacent letters vertically, horizontally, or diagonally to find the theme words and the spangram. The spangram describes the common theme and connects at least two sides of the board, though it does not have to begin or end at an edge. In this puzzle, TechRadar reports that the spangram path touches the left and right sides at the fifth row.
Finding three valid words of at least four letters that are not theme answers unlocks a hint, which highlights a theme word. These mechanics are described by Forbes; an NYT rules page was not available in the sources cited here.
