What was the theme of NYT Strands on July 13, 2024?
The official theme clue was “Hello kitty.” The answers are cat coat patterns and colors. Forbes offered the additional hint “Feline (and looking) good.” Forbes’ July 12 guide and TechRadar’s July 12 guide identify this as game #132 and give the same theme and answers.
What is the spangram?
The spangram is FURCOAT (also styled “FUR COAT” by Forbes). TechRadar’s clue was “Hair styles”; it reported that the spangram touched the grid’s left and right sides at the fifth row.
What are the NYT Strands answers?

TORTOISESHELL is one word and one theme answer. The “tortoise” and “shell” letter sequences near the top of the grid combine; they are not separate answers.
How do Strands hints work?
Strands uses a six-by-eight letter grid. Words can run vertically, horizontally or diagonally, and may change direction. Theme answers appear in blue; the spangram appears in yellow and connects at least two sides of the board. Finding three valid non-theme words of four or more letters unlocks an in-game hint that highlights the letters of a theme answer.
TechRadar listed these non-answer words as possible hint unlocks for this puzzle: HOLE, CRAFT, CONIC, TACK, SCAB and SHELL.
