For Wednesday, September 2, 2026, the NYT Pips archive lists Easy #1212, Medium #1216 and Hard #1229. The hints below are spoiler-light, but the available source does not provide readable tile-by-tile placements for these boards, so a verified full answer cannot be published here. These are separate puzzles from the September 2, 2025 editions.
September 2, 2026 Pips puzzle details
NYT Game Solver’s September 2, 2026 archive identifies the three difficulty tiers and attributes the set to editor Ian Livengood. It says the placements are based on official NYT puzzle data, but the accessible page text does not show the complete placements. The archive lists these puzzle-specific board counts:

Hints for solving today’s boards
Easy
Start with regions that leave little room for choice, such as a single-cell target or a strict comparison. Check how a domino’s two halves would affect neighboring regions before committing to its orientation.
Medium
Track which dominoes remain as you fill constrained regions. A placement that fits one target may also touch another region, so test both halves against both rules.

Prioritize the tightest sums and comparisons, then reserve scarce values for regions that can only accept them. Revisit tentative placements as the available dominoes narrow; do not infer a complete layout from region totals alone.
Why the full September 2, 2026 answers are not listed
The archive provides puzzle numbers and board counts, but its accessible text does not expose a complete tile-by-tile solution. Without a readable board or verified placements, giving exact coordinates or domino orientations would risk presenting a fabricated answer. September 2, 2025 is a different Pips puzzle
If you meant September 2, 2025, do not use the 2026 puzzle numbers or hints. Forbes’ walkthrough by Erik Kain covers that earlier edition’s hard board: it describes forced blank-sided dominoes and a sequence through the constrained regions, with the final 2/6 and 1/3 dominoes able to occupy either of the last two spots. Its Easy and Medium solutions are shown as images, not as readable placements in the article text available here.

Pips is a domino-placement logic puzzle: place every available domino on the board while meeting the rule for each colored region. Depending on the region, its pips may need to sum to a target, match, or satisfy a greater-than or less-than condition. Some regions have no special numerical condition. Since a domino can span two regions, both halves and their orientation matter. The game has Easy, Medium and Hard tiers and a tutorial for new players; it is available through the NYT Games website or app.
