How the puzzle works
Forbes describes Strands as a word-search-style puzzle with a six-by-eight letter grid. Find words related to the theme and a spangram that connects opposite sides of the grid. Letters can connect vertically, horizontally or diagonally. In the guide’s publication-era explanation, finding three valid non-theme words of at least four letters unlocks a hint.
