Hints for solving a Pips board
- Each domino has two values, and each half counts toward the colored region it occupies.
- Dominoes may be rotated to fit the board and satisfy the region clues.
- Work through the conditions shown in each region: a region may require an exact total, equal values, or a value within a stated bound.
- Check both halves of every placed domino against their regions before moving on.

An independent archive and a community discussion identify the December 12, 2025 puzzle as Pips #117. The calendar date is the clearest way to identify the New York Times puzzle. An independent site also publishes its own puzzles for that date; its boards and answers are not the NYT boards.
