Start with the spoiler-light hints below; the full categories and answer key follow.
How Connections works
Connections gives players 16 words to sort into four groups of four that share a theme. The categories are color-coded by difficulty: yellow is the easiest and purple the trickiest. Some words can plausibly fit more than one theme, so the challenge is finding the intended connection for each set. The New York Times explains the rules and daily release in its Connections Help Center.

Why the groups can be easy to mix up
Several words have everyday meanings that invite competing interpretations. “Station” can suggest a place, for example, but here it belongs with words describing status. “Steaming” can describe heat, yet in this puzzle it joins other words meaning very angry. The intended group is the shared theme, not simply a literal association with one word.
