Need help with NYT Connections for Sunday, March 1, 2026? This is game #994. Start with the spoiler-safe nudges below; the category names and all 16 tiles are farther down.

Spoiler-safe hints for Connections #994

Try these in order, stopping when you have enough to solve the board.

  1. Light nudge: One group is about bite-sized food; another is about building; a third points to time away; the last plays with food-related words.
  2. Stronger clues: Think of small dishes served as a starter, gear used on a construction site, symbols for a holiday trip, and things that sound edible but are not.
  3. Category prompts: An amuse-bouche; essential tools for public works; symbols associated with taking a trip; edible, but not.

What makes the categories tricky

Blue: vacation symbols

The blue set is made up of emoji labels associated with a trip or holiday: an airplane, luggage, a palm tree, and a smiling face with sunglasses.

Purple: food-sounding wordplay

The purple category is the wordplay trap: each tile is a non-food term ending in a food word. The spelling JOHANNESBURGER is used here; Parade renders it as “JOHANESBURGER.”
